Lady Gaga is someone that has pushed the limits of style, music, fashion and gender. When you think of Lady Gaga you will probably remember her eccentric outfits, and lyrics. Gaga’s music videos always portray over the top versions of herself and others in eccentric situations that seem to have nothing to do with the actually song. What is more important is how Gaga uses this style. She does not shy away from her differences and encourages not only herself but her fans to push the envelope and because of this Lady Gaga has created something called Gaga feminism. According to Halbertsam, “Gaga feminism is a politics that that brings together meditations on fame and visibitlity with a lashing critique of the fixty of roles for males and females”(5). Halbertsam is implying the feminism and gender are fluid and we do not have to follow a strict norm set how males and females should portray themselves, and that being you is what is most important. What lady Gaga has done is shown us this in a way that is mainstream and causes people who otherwise would not consider these concepts to …show more content…
Gaga does this by directly addressing her gender identity in the music video for her hit song “Telephone” she is thrown into a prison cell and stripped naked. After the prison guards get her naked one exclaims “See I told you she didn’t have a d*ck”. This addressed a rumor that said Gaga was transgender. She used that moment in the video to reclaim her identity. The prison itself may showcase the “prison” that people may be trapped in when wanting to express their sexuality. The guards stripping her down naked to reveal her genital’s show that there are systems of power that may be trying to demean or embarrass people but you must stay true to yourself despite this. What this video has done is given her a way to reclaim her identity in a way that entertains pop culture

The video shows the struggle of a certain culture where they try to fit into two different cultures. One culture being the culture they were born into and another culture choosing to remove their genitals. This is difficult for them because not all people from their home culture are accepting of their choice of becoming not a women or a man. My point with this scenario is that this is exactly what the girls struggled with throughout the whole book, which was the bouncing back and forth between the very two different cultures. Both of the cultures are so different from one another that they find themselves disappointed with the choices they have made by experimenting with marijuana and sex in American Culture and it is shamed upon in the Dominican Republic.…

Beginning in the late 19th century, immigrants from Southern Italy and Sicily began to settle in a neighborhood of East Harlem, New York. The immigrants brought with them the values of their homeland, many of which were centered on their devotion to their Catholic faith and to their families. The American-born children of these immigrants often felt oppressed by and disconnected from their parents’ values and ideals, and tensions between the immigrants and their children often ran high. While the Italian immigrants were devoted to their faith and on conscious, intentional, and spiritual levels, it seems that many of their children continued their religious and familial values on cultural and subconscious levels, rather than a spiritual one, and often times did so out of resignation or obligation, rather than genuine enthusiasm.…

In Beyoncé performances and lyrics on stage, she always makes a visual and speaks on how it's important to be an individual, your own independent person that is powerful. Although, if women were to be more prominent in the world, life, family and work priories will crash fiercely. As long as women are bearing the children in our species, women will not view child rearing and child care in the same way as men do, and will prioritize the responsibilities around it differently. Beyoncé sings in harmony about how women run the world, but why don't we actually run it, women are capable of so many astonishing accomplishments, but they're all hidden by the shadow of a man. Women deserve to be prominent in the world we now live if it’s what they desire for; it shouldn’t be that hard to treat women…
