Lady Gaga Born This Way Essay

February 26, 2011. This date marked the release of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” single, which debuted as number one on the Billboard Hot 100 (Wiser). Lady Gaga, otherwise known as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is an influential and unique pop singer songwriter in America. Her music reaches out to those of all ages, genders, and races. Gaga is well known for being ‘different’ throughout her pop culture career for things such as, her bold fashion choices that included showing up to an award show in a meat dress. Nonetheless, Gaga chooses to embrace who she is and have pride in being different than most musicians and artists. Her hit single, “Born This Way” shares a strong message for acceptance, love, and equality to her ‘Little Monsters’, living in what can be a harsh and cruel society …show more content…
In her Fuse interview, Gaga reveals the truth about her harsh childhood. She recalls her haunting experiences of being bullied throughout her whole academic career (Gaga). Gaga was always in the ‘out crowd’ and never fit in which made her an easy target to other kids. Her gym locker was written on with awful words that mocked her from everything from her religion to sexual orientation (Gaga). She recollects that she felt glory in her childhood because she could freely express her true self, but bullies easily took that experience away from her (Gaga).
By the same token, Gaga’s view of herself had a huge impact on the creation of this song. She believed that she was blessed to be given a voice in society and that she needed to be, “a warrior for pop music” (Gaga). The creation of this song was meant to spread a message of hope to her fans, and Gaga hoped that message would spread the ideas of acceptance, love, and equality. Having that sense of pride and empowerment was important to Gaga and she wants her fans to have that same sense of pride as they grow
