Lady Daniel Monologue

“Thank you Old Lady Daniels!” I turn to face the faded white picket fence and continue to lightly skip to a rhythm, trying my best to dodge the cracks of the sidewalk leading out of the lady’s house. She sits on the wicker rocking chair on her dull porch that’s coordinates with her dull house which coordinates with this dull atmosphere. Once I start to get close to the road, I turn to face her to offer her a friendly wave.
“Goodbye, Gregory. And please don’t call me old lady”, she replies.
“Yes, sir, young man!”, I responded with a thumbs up and continue on my way through the narrow sidewalk.
“Hey Wirt, whatcha doing?” I continue to skip towards my brother, who does not look very pleased right now, but it’s not like that isn’t normal. He doesn’t seem to notice me at first, he was looking off to the high school football stadium across the street, probably thinking about clarinets or something. His oddly parted brown hair was covered with an odd, large, red, coned hat that oddly coordinated with his blue cape. He is much taller than I am, making it very difficult to look him in the eye, but I could still tell he was concentrated. I snapped near his face to gain his attention.

“And please don’t call Old Lady Daniels and old man; it’s not necessarily polite.”
“I was only helping her”, I assure him. “I was helping Old Lady Daniels rake the leaves in her lawn in exchange for candy.” I pat my overly filled pants pockets stuffed with candy to show Wirt the amount of candy I

I saw Sheila Brown today. She continued to exhibit paranoia and delusion. Despite her acknowledgement of ‘feeling slightly out of whack’, she was adamant that her suspicion on both of your intentions and manners were real and unrelated to her psychotic symptom. She was specifically fixated on Kimberly’s ways of talking. What concern me the most is her statement about not being hesitate to fight if anyone, including the staff, continues to disrespect her.…

It seemed like a great day to walk downtown by ourselves. We always went alone, Scout and I, and now that I’m twelve, we can do it with even more grace. Our shoes echoed down the rather empty neighborhood until I saw Mrs. Dubose sitting in her usual spot on the spot in a rickety rocking chair. I didn’t look at her in fear of her spotting us and cutting our plans into pieces. Attempting…

While seated in my nan’s hospital room, my attention was quickly drawn to the room across us. The door had been left ajar, and I could not help but gawk at what was going on there. Laid on the bed, was a seemingly young gentleman who looked like he could not muster the strength to hold a needle in his hand if he wanted to. Though sweating profusely, he was simultaneously quivering under a mountain of blankets. He was extremely debilitated to the point that he had to be held up by three nurses just, so he could throw up in an emesis bag.…

Today I am going to talk, in very abridged form, a little bit about my experience of getting to know the amazing person who goes by the name of Cecilia Bernard, and what I have learned about her over the past three years of knowing her, which was both a fortunate and unfortunate event. Fortunate, obviously, because I got to meet her and see everything great about her. Unfortunate, though, as it took me as long as it did to meet her. What I first learned about her is that she was very open and inviting. I found this out on the way to New Orleans.…
