In both The Veldt, and The fun they had, shows that the lack of humanity is caused by the increase of technology that is consuming our everyday lives.
First off, in the story The Veldt, the story show how much technology people use in their lives that consume their lives. For example on page 7 it says “Matter of fact, were thinking about turning the whole house off for a month.” This shows that the entire house is technology. It also informs readers that turning off the house could be some sort of punishment. Another example is on page 9 when it states “He marched about the house turning off voice clocks, the stove, the heaters, the shoe shiners, the body scrubbers, the swabbers and the massagers.” This proves just how much technology the family has. Also show how the increase of technology reduces humanity because technology does everything for them. Because of the increase of technology in households the amount of humanity decreases.

They screamed, pranced and threw things.” This show how when technology is removed from someone's life who is so used to it they can react in bad ways. Also another example is on page 1 of The fun they had where is states “When they turned back to the page before it had the same words on it that it had when they read it the first time.” This reveals that they don't understand how books work.
