BMC Medicine journal published a study conducted by researchers from the University of Zurich, showing an association between processed meat and higher mortality rate due to heart disease and cancers. Even after taking into account other contributing factors, such as location, ethnicity, and level of daily activity or exercise processed meat consumption was still shown to raise the risk of illness such as heart disease and various cancers. This organization has come to the same consensus and concern about our consumption and awareness of processed meats. The safety of consuming products from clones and genetically engineered animals has not been thoroughly studied. I feel that the FDA has prematurely approved these products for commercial sale and has not put strong enough safeguards in place to ensure public and environmental health. At the very least the products should be labeled to allow consumers to be able to make informed decisions about the food they eat. If such concern is felt by medical professionals and the public why not issue a mass notification to the public something in the way of, “Cloned meats gone commercial, find them at your local markets or burger
