Lack Of Communication In Romeo And Juliet

When people have poor communication, it causes unfortunate consequences. This statement is not only relevant to The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, but also to modern-day situations. In the play, Friar John says to Friar Lawrence that he will send the letter to Romeo, in Mantua, so he will get the news about Juliet faking her death. Unfortunately, he never got the letter due to the possible plague. In Act V Scene 2, Friar John says: “I could not send it- here it is again- / (gives Friar Lawrence a letter) / Nor get a messenger to bring it thee, / So fearful were they of infection.” Meaning that Friar John tried to send the letter to Romeo, but was unable to get a messenger to bring it to him because they were scared of spreading the plague. Due to the lack of communication in Act V Scene 2, it caused major deaths throughout the rest of the play. …show more content…

In Act V Scene 3, Romeo has a long soliloquy, and at the very end he states: “(kisses JULIET, takes out the poison) / Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide. / Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on / The dashing rocks thy seasick, weary bark. / Here’s to my love! (drinks the poison) O true apothecary, / Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.” This indicates to the readers that Romeo gives Juliet one more kiss before he dies. After the kiss, Romeo takes out the poison that the pharmacist gave him and says “To Juliet, my love” and drinks it. As soon as he drinks it he realizes how strong the poison was, but is happy to die with one last kiss from Juliet. Even though the Friar got stuck trying not to catch the black plague he still should’ve at least try to make it to Romeo. The Friar could’ve legitimately kill juliet if he gave her the wrong potion. Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (5.3.119-120). If he would have waited a minute or two, Juliet would have woken up and neither character would be dead. By being impatient and committing suicide, he caused the girl he ‘loved’ to stab herself shortly after seeing him dead due to her vow to stay with him even if it meant death. Romeo ignored important warnings concerning his engagement with Juliet, even from someone he trusted as much as Friar Laurence, and he impatiently and hastily killed himself without thinking which resulted in Juliet’s suicide to be loyal to him.…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

They think that Friar John is in charge of delivering Friar Lawrence’s message to inform Romeo about the plan to reunite Romeo with Juliet once again, but Friar John is not able to deliver it to Mantua, where Romeo lives in banishment, because a plague hit the place where he stays at and is not allowed out. Because he is not able to deliver it, Romeo is not brief about the plan. When Romeo hears the news of Juliet's death, it leads to his death, and Juliet’s too. They argue that if only Friar John could have done something different, it would have saved the lovers’ lives. However, Friar Lawrence is not wise in trusting a man to deliver such vital information.…
