Lack Of Ambition Analysis

One of Aristotle’s Virtues categorized as a deficiency is the lack of ambition. The negative connotation of this is a police officer not fully doing his or her job. Ambition is something that I think is important for a police officer because it is their job to go above and beyond in order to serve their community. There really aren’t any positive things about a police officer who has a lack of ambition. An officer who has proper pride because he or she understands who they are and what their limits truly are. However, sarcasm can be good in order to keep the mood light. Sarcasm can be a good trait whenever something needs to be taken lightly instead of having a tense atmosphere. Truthfulness is a good trait to have as a police officer especially when providing their side of the story in court. The negative thing that truthfulness can lead to is becoming boastful. Pride can get an officer to slow in the rising of the ranking because someone who leads shouldn’t boast about his or her accomplishments. Leaders need to have humility when taking on the leadership roles.

Cowardice is also another trait that doesn’t have a positive upside in the line of a police officer. He or she has to face danger every time that they put on their badge and must be ready to overcome the fear inside to protect themselves and others. Courage is categorized as a virtue, which is important for police officers so they can be ready at any moment to perform their duties. They must be able to face the life threatening situations should they come. Courage can also be negative if it leads to foolhardiness, which is someone who throws themselves into risky
