Lachrymal by Jasmine McCullough was created after an inspiration from artist Ian Friend. The artwork consists of ink and watercolour paper. It is a triptych piece of artwork where it has been displayed on three largely scaled glass frames, aligned together. Thus, making the middle frame more eye capturing. The minimalistic colour scheme of black were used in strokes, alternating in both horizontal and vertical motion. Finishing off with black dots in several sizes. McCullough has stated the meaning behind lachrymal where she said: “The aim is to express an empty yet relaxed sadness in the form of tears.” Her meaning has been expressed through the use of a colourless colour scheme - black. Black associates with mostly negatives, therefore showcasing a sense of sadness. McCullough has used this main feature to illustrate her meaning and has communicated the emotions to the viewers.
