Labor unions were originally formed with the intent of protecting the worker from terrible working conditions, unexplained dismissal, and fair wages. Before labor unions, workers were cheated out of money they rightfully earned, and workers are almost always at risk of losing their jobs and possible benefits. It can be difficult to decide which is better for both Union and nonunion workers are pleased with each. While some people believe that nonunion workers benefit more than the union workers, union members Unions most benefit the economy and the population as a whole because members receive better wages, more job security, and better benefits. The most common benefits are sick leave, vacation time, and holidays. This means that you can take certain days off from your job, but still receive a full day’s pay with no penalty. These benefits are also in place so that if you got hurt on the job, your benefits from your job and union membership will not make you responsible for all of the medical bills you would owe. About “93 percent of unionized workers were entitled to medical benefits compared to 69 percent of their nonunion peers” (“Pros and Cons of Union Jobs”). This statistic shows that more union workers take advantage of the benefits they are offered. Union workers typically take advantage of the benefits they are offered because they are better compared to the benefits of nonunion workers and there are more of them. Nonunion benefits are not the best, which leads to less people seizing the opportunity that their job provides in regards to their benefits. Union workers are clearly offered better benefits and the workers accept them more often since they appeal to them
