Blacks have been labeled as being second-class citizens as well as being subjected to harsh name calling. Some words used in the past to belittle the race are now used as a way to empower one another. All throughout history however there are still prominent black leaders that have passed this labeling of society such as Martin Luther King Jr. and President Barack Obama. Especially because 50 years ago society had continued to label blacks as people who have no future and this is why I disagree with this theory, because society has given several black prominent leaders, educators, and visionaries. In Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech given on August 28 1963 "I Have A Dream", he says "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. " (MLK speech). This quote is saying that not everybody will be judged or labeled by the color of their skin but by the way they act and how they appeal to
