There are many reasons that labeling food that contain GMO’s is the best thing to do. First, we as consumers have the right to know what we are eating and buying every single day. Also, the GMO’s help our food last longer and not contain different types of bacteria and fungi. The first of many reasons why labeling GMOs is the right thing to do is because consumers deserve to know what they are buying and eating everyday. Certain foods could contain harmful ingredients that could make someone sick and/or kill them. Labeling also helps people that practice certain religions know what foods they can eat that are not prohibited by their own religion. an example of this is when something contains pork Jewish people and Muslims can not eat that food because it is against their religion. …show more content…
This helps consumers of GMO labeled products because if the food doesn't not go bad quickly they will save more money by not having to buy the product as often. Also, if you cook a meal and have leftovers you will be able to keep it for several days after without it going bad.
The cons of GMOs is the food surplus we could have because of all the food that is able to last so long. Mass production is also a con because if companies begin to produce too much then that will cause the food surplus and then food will not be eaten it will just go to waste. These are not cons because it is better to have more food than you can eat than to not have enough to survive. In conclusion, I am pro GMO because labeling the foods with GMOs helps consumers know what they are eating, Also, the food we buy is able to last longer with the Genetically Modified Organisms that they
