Conclusion to the lab report

The first activity in the lab was about the microscope and I leaned a lot of things related to it.The entire class was required to analyzed the wet mount and dye specimen by using compound microscopes. I found that activity very excited because I haven 't touched a microscope since I was in middle school. The microscope is a very relevant optical tool which is used to observe and analyzed very small specimens. These specimens can be from animal, plants or human being oriented. The microscope used a combination of ocular and objective lenses that produce magnified images of the small objects. In order to analyze the specimens mentioned above in class last week students must understand the various powers of the

The images sometimes became blurry because the specimens got so larger and the resolution was not good enough. Moreover, the total magnification of the specimens were determined by multiplying the ocular lens power by the objective lens. For instance a 10x ocular lens and a 4x objective lead to a total magnification of 40x. In addition In order to know about the inversion 's causes of a specimen, students must know that it is due to the combination of lens involve during the magnification process. This occurred when a light source underneath the objects projected light upward trough the objects and into the objective lenses. Moreover,To identify the parfocal of the specimens trough this microscope students must know how to set adequately the ocular and objective lenses not to affect the focus of the objects. Also the working distance had to be well set from the front lens specimens of the objective to the closest area of the specimens focus. Since, it determined the clear field of view or the clear wide area view of the specimens. So, the wet mount, dyes specimens and the anImal cells, and the letter "e" …show more content…
Since my classmate and me focused only on the scanning power we realized that the shape of the individual cheek cell are thickness , flat and irregular. The thickness of a cheek told us that a cell is unique for its functions. So it is perfect to cover the cheek with a large nucleons that produce moisture in the oral cavity, and mocus as it suppose to. The moisture in the oral cavity facilitates the swallowing and digestion of an individual. In the scanning power the cheek image 's nucleus was not centrally or peripherally located because we analyzed it through a scanning power with a poor adjustment of the coarse knob. So, the image was affected and misinterpreted. That is why when the cells spreader out my classmate and me could see just three layers of cheek cells. I think the that natural cheek structure contain just one layer of cells because they fit together and divide it every 24 hours to constantly shed from the body. The fact is that another function of the cheek cells is to to fit together to make a thin covering layer in order to protect organism from bacteria. So, that is why the natural cheek structure contains only one layer. I think the reason why my classmate and I thought the cheek cells have more than one layers was as I said before due to the low magnification power in the scanning process which disturbed it the

During the laboratory section two devices were used; these were the DE2-115 board and a computer, containing the software system Quartus II. Each of these devices were very significant for gathering information during the duration of the lab and shall be explained further. The DE2-115 board was the device provided in the lab that displayed the output for viewing by the student. The portions of the DE2-115 board that were used during the duration of the lab were the switches, the LEDs, and the seven segment displays.…

Mark experienced a shortness of breath and could not seem to feel better even when he paused his climb to “take a breather.” This is very common for people who are not accustomed to the difference in pressure because of the difference of altitudes. Same goes for Emily who experienced a headache due to a decrease in oxygen in the air and therefore, in her body.…

“The glue is not one thing; it is a variety of different molecules that connect and lie between our cells” (123). This glue and molecular structure gives each cell and tissue their distinct functions. What makes many different body parts different is how the materials like cells and tissues are arranged and attached to each other, like the eye and leg. This indicates that every tissue alignment is different in it’s own way and can be identified with it’s organism. The author had his students try to identify each tissue under a slide and it is possible, but very…

The focus of this lab was to identify an unknown organism based on its characteristics and the results from each of the tests. There will be various of test to choose from in order to identify the unknown organism, which will eliminate numerous possibilities and narrow it down to one. All the fundamental skills that we have learned and practiced in the lab will be used to perform on our unknown such as aseptic technique, microscopic examination, the use of differential media, and determining if it’s positive or negative. Performing aseptic techniques is the most crucial step that requires the utilizing of transferring, inoculating, and storing bacterial cultures and media. Aseptic technique is defined as procedures that prevent contamination…

In this lab, we carried out a variety of reactions using different chemicals and metals. A chemical reaction is when the chemical state of the substance you are testing rearranges its ionic and molecular structure. One of the reactions we experienced was single replacement, this consists of one ion switching places with another ion to form a new compound. Another reaction we saw was double replacement. In this reaction, two compounds ions are switched to form two new compounds.…

My experiences in SCI 195A this semester taught by Ingrid Peterson and Dina Schwartz have been nothing less than extraordinary. Being a first semester freshman at a top university, such as the University of Arizona, is a tremendous culture shock even coming from a nationally ranked college preparatory school as I did. Although college is full of opportunity, it entails legions of work! College certainly includes more responsibility such as time management, test taking strategy, and planning for the future. Each of these values (and more) were passed onto me this semester by Ingrid and Dina.…
