Lab Report On Chromaseratops Offsprings

At the end of the lab, there were several different Chromaseratops offspring. It is like that because of meiosis. That process creates the cells and gives them chromosomes which become homologous pairs. From there, you can make a lot of different combinations of gametes. For this lab, there was 8 different gametes since there was 3 homologous pairs. For a human there would be way more combinations since we have 23 pairs or 46 chromosomes. Through independent assortment, you receive 2 homologous pairs which can be from the same gene, but have different alleles which is why there can be a diverse amount of results. To reproduce, you need gametes like the sperm and egg cell that have half the number of usual chromosomes. The diversity can be increased because of homologous pairs. The pairs mean that even though the 2 chromosomes code for the same gene, there can be different alleles. …show more content…
He put them into two categories: Homozygous(2 of the same allele) and Heterozygous(2 different alleles). His theory related to the lab because the baby Chromaseratops gets genes from both their mom and dad. After the parents cells go through meiosis, they become homologous pairs, which will have the same genes but possibly different alleles. Meiosis is the cell division process that makes gametes. In this process, the DNA is duplicated and then divided twice. Mendel’s theory on the separation of alleles is how the genes are separated.
