Lab Report Errors

Although, we may deem scientist free of errors because of their research expertise there is always room for error. Just as any individual scientist must cover their basis and double-check all of the work they publish. There are four different types of common errors of human inquiry. These common errors include inaccurate observations, overgeneralization, selective observation, and illogical reasoning. Inaccurate observations are when individuals do not truly commit to actually analyzing the observation. It is easy to make mistakes when you are not paying attention to something completely; some classify it as eyewitness testimony error. Glamour magazine is known to be a magazine that solely caters to accommodating men. But, that is not true; there are many articles in Glamour magazine that women are interested in because that is what they enjoy and value. For example, there was an article in Glamour magazine that was titled “ How to look the part for a first date?”. A lot of individuals overgeneralize magazines like Glamour, Vogue, Elle and Cosmo to be just about pleasing men. Is it so bad that women want to impress their significant other? I do not think so. The only way I believe scientist can improve on this error with Glamour magazine is including more titles on the front page that aren’t geared towards men. Glamour magazine includes articles about preventing breast cancer, advice against tanning, and discount fashion deals. Scientist should include more of these articles on the front page to decrease these over-generalizations. A scientist may say that the magazines sell more when they include the catchy article titles on the front page that are usually geared towards men. This may be true but majority of these magazines will continue to be overgeneralized if more articles titles geared towards topics other than men are not listed on the cover
