La Vida Robot: What Makes An Effective Team

An effective team can be made of many parts. Many people think of different components that can create an effective team. After reading “La Vida Robot” by Joshua Davis from the Wired magazine and excerpt from Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, it can be noticed that they have similar ideas of what makes an effective team. Both writers believe that communication and learning is a major factor in an effective team. Communication within a team affects their progression and helps them understand the positions and role they play on the team. In both of these readings, they speak on ways on how communication can benefit a team. “La Vida Robot” supports this because in the article it says, “[Cristian and Lorenzo] spoke with Luis Aranda…. The conversation resulted in Luis going to a hardware store to buy PVC pipe” (Davis 191). This example tells how as a team they spoke together and came …show more content…
The knowledge they gain from these projects help them develop more knowledge which gives them an advantage and motivates them. In “La Vida Robot,” Joshua Davis wrote, “Over the past four months, Lorenzo had flourished, learning a new set of acronyms and raising his math grade form an F to an A.” (David 189) . This piece of evidence shows how Lorenzo uses his knowledge from his project to other outside things which will motivate him to learn more. Likewise, Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson also embraces familiar words like “In eighth grade [Woz] built a calculator that included one hundred diodes, and two hundred resistors on ten circuit boards. It won top prize in a local contest run by the Air Force….” (Isaacson 206). It is evident that Wozniak had a good start before he began to enhance his knowledge. This knowledge motivated and helped him to strive for more. Each piece of evidence tells how they benefit from learning. They improve at the tasks as they learn and cooperate in these
