La Tapachulteca Analysis

On October 12th me and my group members visited La Tapachulteca which is located in Van Nuys. La Tapachulteca is a Central American grocery and bakery shop. The shop that we visited had many different parts to it. As I walked to the front of the shop I noticed a small playground for children that had graffiti all around the sides of the store. As I got closer to the entrance I got a little nervous because I noticed graffiti all over the entrance which is consider vandalism. As I entered into the store I saw a guy working for a commercial company trying to sell products. Once I reached to the quad many people were staring at me and my group members which made it very uncomfortable for us to take pictures and interview employees in a relaxed environment. In all honesty it was very difficult to do the field work that was assigned to us because most of the employees spoke English therefor it was challenge for me to understand what was going on in a conversation. To begin the comparison between my second essay and the site visit one thing I noticed was I wrote a lot about working in difficult situations. As I walked around La Tapachulteca I noticed there were …show more content…
I met a family who worked very hard together, had the proper permits, and who were on their second food truck. I believe if we had interview more street vendors we would of ran in to a street vendor who struggled a lot like in our experts but being inside the La Tapachulteca showed some of those characteristics. I have read many sad stories in this class and of course when I went to my sight visit no one shared their stories with us but you could see it in their eyes. The pain, suffering, and more importantly the loneliness. I hope my next visit to La Tapachulteca I have a better experience in communicating with

Digging the heels of her hands into the small of her back and arching first back and then forward to ease the kinks Dr. Caroline Taylor groaned as the stiffening muscles protested her efforts to loosen them, then ran her hands through her cap of short black hair. She stood at the end of the men's ward surveying the patients lying in the narrow metal beds. Dysentery, an appendix, two leg wounds from farming implements and an assortment of other ills had brought these villagers to the little hospital Dr. Taylor, “Docta Caro”, ran in this nearly forgotten corner of Bukaso. She had just finished rounds in the men's ward and signed off on the various orders for her nurses and still had the women's and children's wards to walk.…

“Continuidad de Los Parques” features a skilful manipulation of a mere 543 words in order to insert a story within a story. In the first realm, (or story one) a man retreats to a novel he had begun reading a few days earlier and had to leave due to urgent business matters. This realm is initially portrayed as a description of reality. Sitting in his study in an armchair of green velvet, with his head resting comfortably against the back of the chair, he enjoys the presence of his cigarettes and the view of the park from his window. The protagonist likes the feeling of giving himself over to the story, and allows himself to be quickly and consciously drawn into the action of the novel.…

Reading the details of the disturbing acts committed by the Europeans made me sit back and reflect on my own history because this is something you don’t get desensitized about, whenever I read about the horrible things that native people went through it make me think, “How can someone just stand and watch this happen, is there anyone that is going to speak up and defend these people?” Las Casa is the first person that I have ever…
