At the beginning of the day, the students take a few minutes longer to get started and stay focused on their current task. By mid-morning, most of the students are cooperative and focused. Mrs. Oliver’s second group of students is sometimes more restless and distracted in the afternoons, after they have eaten lunch. Most students regularly engage in classroom activities and assignments although, several students need almost constant monitoring to remain actively engaged and on task. There are some students who prefer to work independently whenever possible, and others who want to work with other students, even when they have been instructed to work independently. By providing opportunities for independent and group learning opportunities throughout the day, as well as breaking down the tasks into smaller sections, and changing the pace and type of activity, students may find it easier to focus and stay on
