Currently, I have the privilege of working as a first grade teacher in Garfield, New Jersey. After recently obtaining my M.Ed. in special education with an LDT-C certification, I was excited to learn about a LDT-C opening in the Totowa School District. Please accept my resume for consideration. In 2009 I graduated from Montclair State University with a concentration in Elementary Education and currently hold a Standard Teaching Certificate (Elementary K-5). As previously mentioned, I have recently received my M.Ed. in special education with a concentration in learning disabilities from William Paterson University. As you review my resume, it is evident that I have had teaching experience in a variety of grade levels from Kindergarten through 5th grade. During my experience, I have become well versed using the SMART Board and other technology as teaching tools in helping to enhance my students’ learning experience. I also collaborate with my colleagues and caseworkers in helping students with IEPs to succeed both inside and outside my classroom. These experiences proved to be valuable assets when completing my LDT-C internship in the Wood-Ridge Township School District. …show more content…

According to the Lamar County School Student/Parent handbook,There are a number of factors are taken into account when computing a student's grade: homework, daily class work, neatness in preparation of work, promptness in completing work, projects, portfolios, and more. (41) Many classes focus particularly on the skills that require teacher observations (e.g. participation in cooperative group work) rather than grading paperwork. For this reason, attendance is also a factor to take into account when determining grades, because students need to be present in order to receive a grade for activities that require teacher observations such as group projects, whole class discussions, and more types of formative and summative assessments. Lamar County Public Schools have a 10 point grading scale and has four grade reporting periods for each school year. Students who are receiving a regular education, not special education, will have their school work assessed based on their grade level.…

Response to Intervention: Tirzah Carroll Reinhardt University Special education is no longer the sole responsibility of a special needs educator. General education teachers are now finding their classrooms operating under the inclusion philosophy, which believes that all students, regardless of type or severity of their disability, have a right to receive instruction in a general classroom (Taylor, Smiley, & Richard, 2009). In fact, general education teachers are involved in the learning disability identification process long before these students ever receive an individualized education program (IEP).
