LB 307 In The Classroom Essay

When trying to figure out if a student will achieve academic success in a classroom the way a class is visually set up is overlooked and the main focus is on the amount of material the teacher will be teaching. A teacher is given a set of standards that is meant to help its students for the next class that they will eventually move on to but the way the standards are taught are up to the teacher. Most students retain the necessary material with the way the teacher engages them, relates the concept to common situations and uses the room provided. Our room LB 307 differs from my 10th grade English classroom in the way it affects the student’s success. The first thing I noticed when walking into LB 307 was the way the desks were set up, they are put together to form a circle and there are about five chairs to each group. Notably, whiteboards are overlooked in a classroom since it is assumed the only person writing on it is the teacher. In LB 307 there is two large whiteboards, each on three of the walls. In LB 307 all boards are used when we are brainstorming or making connections to past and present materials we have used. When all students write their ideas on the board it gives peers a better insight on inferences they would not have thought of and get a better understanding of the concept. Not only does this help the students, but it gives the teacher a better understanding of who needs help and what she needs to make clear. In contrast, in my 10th grade class there was only two large boards on one wall, in the direction that the teacher will be. The students were not asked to the give their opinions on the concepts that they misunderstood and need help on. In this class the teacher was the only one writing on the board which only made her main ideas clear but the students’ input was not

    The size was perfect for separating the classroom out into different learning areas. This is a good setup because it helps the child to focus on only the activity/station they are in at that moment.
