On the other hand, due to the size of the LAPD and the size of the population of the Los Angeles, the LAPD has weaknesses too. For an example, the City of New York has over 40,000 sworn officers with approximately 305 square miles with the population of 8 million. Therefore, for the LAPD to be comparable to New York city, the LAPD should have a compliment of approximately additional of 10,000 officers.
