L. started preschool at age two. She has always been on a Montessori program, where students stay with the same teacher for three years. So her current classroom, is only the second one she has ever attended. L. is currently in third grade. Her teacher, (Miss G.) feels that she knows her very well and says that L. is a pleasure to teach. She also said that L. completes the majority of her work with ease and tends to have extra classroom time.
When I observed L. in the classroom I could tell that she knows the classroom rules and expectations and spends the majority of her time working happily within those boundaries. On the days that I was there she would occasionally talk when she should have been listening or spent a

I chose Chapter 23 “Using Source Material” in Writing: 10 Core Concepts. “Using Source Material” is important and useful information on how to use other sources in your writing effectively. Chapter 23 gives examples for how to: include enough information to back up your ideas, but not so much information that it covers up what you want to say. In addition, it gives tips for how to incorporate it into your writing. Robert P. Yagelski argues that “The challenge for many students is resisting the tendency to rely too heavily on source material so that it doesn’t take over the student’s own writing” (743).…

One good way would be giving students an assignment where they require them to write papers on subjects of their choice that have something to do with biology.…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…
