Barriers to learning
L.O. does not appear to have any barriers to learning. Her first language is English and there is no problem communicating effectively with her. She does not have any hearing, speaking or other physical or sensory problems that would interfere with communication or learning. She also appears to be of sound mind and faces no psychosocial barriers to learning. L.O. is responsive, enthusiastic, and rational when speaking with her.

is eager to learn about her own care as well as the care of her newborn child. She is very responsive to teaching and asks questions when she has them. Initially, it was her plan to have a vaginal birth with no medication. Since her birthing plan did not involve a cesarean section she did not do any self-teaching regarding the subject before she went into labor. She has little knowledge on the topic other than the small amount of information she was given by her mother, who had a cesarean section for the birth of L.O. She was not provided with information regarding the care of the wound from her mother, only a brief description of her mother’s experience. As previously stated, this was L.O.’s first cesarean section so her experience with the care regarding her wound is quite
