The definition of a Utopia is a paradise where everything is perfect, so using that word in a college setting would mean students attend college, because they have a love for knowledge, and genuinely want to be there. In the article “What Would Make it a Successful Year for You?” by Nancy Jennings, she explores the different definitions of what students’ believe it means to be successful. Where students base their definition of success off academic engagement, and academic achievement. Academic engagement as defined in Jennings article is, “expressing a desire to learn, to take interesting classes or explore new subject areas, or to engage in independent research.”(Jennings Paragraph 10) Academic achievement definition as stated in Jennings article is, “getting good grades or improving one’s grades, achieving college milestones […], and engaging in career-oriented activities.”(Jennings Paragraph 7) Students who go to school for personal investment, go because they want to be academically engaged in their studies.
