To start off, I believe that Kurt Warner is a Competent Manager in the managerial/leadership incompetence scale. The reasons that I believe this are that in his football career, he successfully helped build up the Arizona Cardinals football team back to a winning program as well as earning multiple other awards for his accomplishments throughout his career. During his time in Arizona, he was a highly successful quarterback at the start. In 2006, he won the NFC offensive player of the week award during his first week of play against San Francisco. After being sidelined and put on the bench for a couple games, he was put back in after Matt Leinart was injured. During that week when he was put back in at the starting position, he led the NFL in passing yards. I believe this is a statement to …show more content…
My next example involves Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald. This relationship was key to the Cardinals successful season and trip to the super bowl game against the Steelers. Their play during the playoff season was key to their ticket to the Super Bowl. Lastly, Kurt was highly encouraging and a strong leader during Cardinals practices. I believe his strong positive attitude and encouragement brought the Cardinals up to their winning season and the Super Bowl game. They unfortunately lost, but coming all that way for the Arizona Cardinals was remarkable. Secondly, I believe that Kurt Warner’s most significant bases of power are Legitimate, Expert, and Referent. For Legitimate power, Kurt was put as the starting quarterback for the Cardinals after Matt Leinart was injured. He rose to the

With his ability to throw the ball downfield, accurate on his throws, calm in the pocket, and the ability to run with the ball when pressure comes or no wide receivers are open, no wonder why San Francisco paid him so much. In the last year of his 4 year rookie deal, Garoppolo who was still in New England at the time was asking for a big payday and a starting job. With Tom Brady planning to play for a few more years, after looking at how much he is getting paid, the Patriots did the right thing by trading him for a second round pick rather than let him walk in free agency and get nothing back for him.…

“You play the way you practice” (Warner). This quote is from football legend, Glenn “Pop” Warner, creator of plays like the forward pass. Football was derived from rugby. As this sport evolved over the years, so did their fans and players. Coach Pop Warner created one of the best offensive line-ups, the single-wing, and changed the game of football because it made it harder for the defense to find out where the ball was.…

With a big game like the one he played in, it is easy to get off track. This is what divides the men from the boys so to say. But as pete states “Less than two seasons into his college career, Watson has pushed Clemson from a fringe title contender best known for unexpectedly losing big games to lesser teams to a legitimate title threat. Watson came in with five-star billing but lacked any of the Johnny or Jameis drama associated with top quarterbacks over the past few years” (Thamel). When you bring a school that is like that to a more relatable school you have to play and win in some pretty big games.…

Coaches have the power to change lives. I can humbly say this as all my coaches, both good and bad, have taught me in some way what it takes to be a good athlete and most importantly how to be a good human being. They have taught me life lessons that I can only hope to preserve by instilling them into my athletes in my time as a coach. The articles I have chosen to highlight in this essay show how coaches have helped to develop character in athletes, how they pushed them to be the best on and off the field of play, and illustrate how they stepped into the lives of athletes and became so much more than just a coach.…

The most notable one that stuck with me was when the tragedy of red-haired Alexander happened, “The ore bucket had hit him in the shaft’s bottom and he died instantly” (119). The family members that worked at the Sudbury mine with him quit their job when they were all not allowed time off to attend his funeral. This shows how close the family is and how much every single one of them meant to each other, because you would not just quit your job for anyone. Alexander was at the start of his career, having just finished college and had a really big opportunity when red-haired Alexander was killed. He gave up his opportunity in order to help his brother when they were short one man when they were re-hired back at the mine.…
