Kurt Cobain was born on February 20th, 1967, in Hoquiam, Washington. He grew up in the small logging community of Aberdeen. His father, Donald, was a mechanic and his mother, Wendy, was a waitress and a housewife. At an early age he started showing a big interest in music. At four, Cobain began playing piano and singing, he then wrote a song about taking a trip to the local park, he then gravitated to classic rock. When he was eight, his parents divorced, he lived with his dad, on weekends, he visited is mother and sister. Once his father remarried Kurt didn 't get along with his step mother Jenny or his step sisters, he felt as if his father cared for them more. In January 1979, Jenny gave birth to a boy, Chad Cobain. This new family, which Kurt insisted it wasn 't a real one, Chad began getting more attention which Kurt wasn 't used to due to the fact he was the only boy. He soon began having resentment towards his step mother. After the divorce Kurt 's mother began dating a man who was abusive. Kurt witnessed the domestic violence inflicted upon her, with one incident resulted in her being hospitalized with a broken arm. "I remember feeling ashamed, for some reason. I was ashamed of my parents. I couldn 't face some of my friends at school anymore, because I desperately wanted to have the classic, you know, typical family. Mother, father.
