The King of Grunge Kurt Cobain was a great artist and considered “The King of Grunge.” Kurt started music at a young age, he was given a guitar from his Uncle Chuck and entertained the kids and teachers at school with his artistic talents. As a teen, Cobain began attending all of “The Melvins” rehearsals, where he met his best friend Krist Novoselic, whom he later teamed up with to form Nirvana. In 1988, Nirvana released their first single “Love Buzz” which caused an uproar in the music industry. “A started level of anger, energy and jaded intelligence,” said “Guitar Player Magazine.” Kurt signed “Nirvana” on with Geffen Records, which put them high on the charts beside other big rock

Kurt had it good until around the age of eight which is where stuff started going downhill. At age eight, Cobain’s parents got a divorce, which hit Kurt harder than anyone else in his family. He started fighting off his demons at a young age and was passed around the family, from house to house. Kurt started using music as an outlet to escape his anger and sadness. He put all of his feelings into all of his music. He started bouncing from one friend's house to another friends house. Nirvana was his escape from everything. He advocated equal rights for all people who were not treated fairly or misunderstood. Kurt was not one to allow people to be treated differently just because of their skin tone or their sexuality or gender, etc. Kurt admitted in one of his interviews that he struggled with identity when he was a teenager in highschool. “I felt so different and so crazy that people just left me alone… I had a real good childhood up until the divorce, I couldn’t face some of my friends at school.” (Cobain). Kurt couldn’t relate with males so he ended up spending a lot of his time being friends with mostly girls. Kurt said he also felt bad for all the girls because they were mistreated and oppressed. These small experiences are what caused Kurt to be so caring and determined for everyone to have equal rights. He also felt as if he were a bit into guys due to the fact the he related to this one guy and the guy was gay and Kurt was happy to finally have a guy to relate with and he felt as if he had finally had a bit of weight off his shoulder, the rock legend became bisexual throughout high school and stayed that way all the way up until his death.
