Kurt Cobain It was once said that “I desire the things which will destroy me, in the end.” By carefully observing Kurt Cobain’s deleterious childhood, detrimental relationships, and dreadful end, one could easily identify the downfalls of his wretched life, for his most valued obsessions annihilated him. While being raised in Aberdeen, Washington, Cobain was exposed to moral corruption, even before his parents divorced. He was originally able to endure his grave depression, with just art and music, however, escaping his past eventually called for destructive extremes, with little to no help from his friends and surroundings. Though he married Love and had a child with her, in 1992, he was still quite unsatisfied with his somber life. After almost losing custody of his child, Frances, for his drug usage (which was exploited in a magazine) his suicidal thoughts were beyond control. While he did not lose custody, the mere thought of her being raised in a similar home to his immensely frightened him, as he desperately desired for Frances to have a healthier life than his. Being more suicidal than ever, he continuously declared statements, such as “Life is a waste of time,” (“Kurt Cobain Quotes”), for he had given up on his life. On a Rome tour, in 1994, he attempted suicide and slipped into an overdose-induced coma. Though the suicide failed, it did not stop him from successfully committing it, one month later (Reiff “Kurt Cobain Overdoses”). His death was deeply grieved, by fans, fellow musicians, and his small family. To the world, it was a tremendous shock, however, his words, “It's better to burn out than to fade away” (“Kurt Cobain Quotes”), have kept his legacy “burning,” ever since.
