Nirvana’s bassist, Krist Novoselic, recalls playing “in a worn down, old house. We’d play in front of five people.” The band did not care about how popular they were, instead they cared about the music they were producing. As the Seattle music scene began to mold around this punk-rock music, people quickly renamed it grunge. Nirvana and their music would eventually explode into the mainstream and lead, what many called a revolution, with their most famous song, “Smells like Teen Spirit.” Cobain, who already struggled with drug abuse and depression, “was never able to adjust to his extraordinary success” which would lead him to become suicidal. In 1994, during the last month of his life, Cobain would attempt suicide two more times. It was evident that the musician desperately desired to end his life. The first of these two attempts occurred in Rome while trying to receive medical treatment. He overdosed on a tranquilizer, called Rohypnol, while under the influence of alcohol. Cobain was rushed to the hospital where he was luckily stabilized. He was soon sent home, to Seattle, to recover. Nine days later, Courtney “called the police to their Seattle home after Cobain locked
