At the first glance at this issue – Whether the bicyclists should obey the driving laws as the drivers do in San Francisco –, it pops into my mind that the bicyclists are not necessary to follow the rules which for the drivers. On the other hand, the bicyclist should have their own rules to avoid the traffic jams. The core reason why I have such perspective is that the authority cannot judge the drivers and bicyclists at the equivalent situation because they have different purposes and functions. First of all, unlike the vehicles or buses, the size of bicycles is smaller. As a result, the bicycles do not occupy as much space on the roadway as the cars do.…

As we drove closer and closer to Duluth the team we were playing that day was the talking point in the car. The Omaha Tropics were who we were facing first of four possible games in the tournament. They were the heavy favorite to win with the reason being because they used this tournament as a tryout team for their winter team. That meant they brought a hefty amount of very skilled players to this tournament all giving one-hundred percent effort skating for a spot on their winter team in Omaha. Not to mention, their team is mostly the same players every year, so in reality seventy-five percent of these kids played together all year long.…

Problem-Wisdom is a large-scale floor installation consisting of 366 papier-mâché sculptures. Every object created and displayed in Lertchaiprasert’s installation visually shows the elapsing of time, which expands to his own personal experiences while making the work and his perception of time. This installation required a disciplined approach in which Lertchaiprasert had to partake in a daily, ritualistic process.…

Kwame Anthony Appiah’s article “The Case for Contamination” focuses on the interconnected issues involving cultural diversity, ethical obligations, and increased globalization. Appiah is a compelling advocate for Cosmopolitanism, an ethical principle that aims to institute universality and collective values across individuals to form a single community. Unlike his book “Cosmopolitanism: Ethics in a World of Strangers,” the article focuses less on the ideology of Cosmopolitanism and more about the increased occurrence of globalization. Appiah constructed an argument that religion can be utilized as a safeguard for culture during times of globalization. Religion assists individuals in preserving their unique cultural customs while being subjected…

Gnostic evil and the postmodern In the context of depth psychology, a link between individual experiences, gnosis and the contemporary world becomes self-evident. Therefore, during the course of the twentieth century, numerous movements embrace both esoteric spirituality and everyday encounters in multiple and highly individualised ways, providing a 'creative reinterpretation of traditional esotericism under the impact of modernity' (Hanegraaff 1996, 383). Hence, Western esotericism in the twentieth century exists as a fluid body of different groupings and individuals who emphasize the illusory nature of materiality, oppose any form of orthodoxy, and, as Needleman (1993) aptly remarks, exemplify 'allergy to authoritarianism of any kind' (xxix).…

The civic issue that I chose was the lack of bike lanes in Ancaster. The existing bike lanes are minimal in number, and cover only short stretches, and often don't connect to each other. This is relevant to the many people that ride their bicycles in Ancaster and those who drive around them. The lack of bike lanes is an issue because it poses a safety concern to those who cycle in Ancaster and puts drivers nearby at risk because cyclists might not have appropriate or safe areas to bike. This also discourages possible riders from cycling in Ancaster.…
