Zel Anders has worked as a producer, screenwriter, and director. Most of her work has been on short films, as she is still starting out in the film industry. She has a masters degree in English from Mills college and a Bachelor's in applied economics from the University of San Francisco.

She said she took classes at a local college and networked with one of her teachers, who helped get her involved in several projects. She also said she worked to network with other female filmmakers in her area. Zel says it is a great time to be screenwriter because their are so many different mediums to get your work presented through .
I asked her what it was like being a woman in the film industry. She said she thinks there may be some bias against women in the film industry, but people are working to improve that. She said some wealthy people have stepped forward to help women who want to succeed in the film industry. Additionally, she said she thinks there may be more opportunities for women who are willing to do action movies. This was encouraging to me, as I really enjoy action movies and would have no issue working on them.
I asked Zel which of her projects was she most proud of and she told me she was really proud of a youtube documentary series she created called “Elders for Hillary” in which she interview several holocaust survivors and got their thoughts on the …show more content…
Zel told me that a major challenge has been not being in LA - which is part of why she’s really worked to connect with other filmmakers in her area. I asked her if she thought location was really important to success in the industry. She said that until you get established in the industry location is very important, but after that, you have a bit more freedom in that regard. I had suspected that location would be a major factor in success in the industry. The other issue she said she’s run into is age. She really wishes she’d gotten started in the industry right out of college. This encouraged me to get into the industry sooner rather than
