Has your dog ever helped chase off three bears? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Imagine it, three bears, not the goldilocks variety by any means, one puppy, not yet a year old, and one mother, gray hairs showing through her black and white spots, all these combining into one epic tale.
You see, we lived out in the country, “in the boondocks” if you will, and wild animals were regulars in our front yard. The typical customers however, were chipmunks, rabbits, and the occasional deer. Lady had grown …show more content…
She was always sure to keep the yard clear of animals, and safe for the numerous children in our family. On this particular day Lady and Kukka both smelled the bears coming and quickly began barking up a storm. Kukkas barks, while just as fierce as Lady’s, were a bit more like yips than full-blown barks.The bears continued on through the onslaught of barking, seeming to not even hear it.
When the bears got too close to our house Kukka knew, sometimes a dog’s gotta do what a dog’s gotta do. She began a charge on the bears, leaping and bounding, all the while snarling and barking as best she could. Lady was quick to come to her aide, charging right along with her. The bears seemed to realize the enormity of their mistake and were quick to turn tail and run.
In this situation Kukka was not only determined to defeat the bears to protect us, her family, she was so determined that she became blind to the odds against her, and her small size, and simply charged, coming out victorious. She put her family ahead of herself proving her loyalty to us. Loyalty is one of the most important elements that make up a great dog and she has it in leaps and
