Certain roller coasters hold records for being the tallest or for being the fastest. One of those record-breaking roller coasters is the Kingda Ka. The Kingda Ka is the tallest steel roller coaster and the second fastest steel roller coaster in the United States available for the public. “This upside down U-shaped track bolts up 45 stories in the sky—that’s 456 feet high!” (Six Flags).…
Translating to "bear's den," Mukwonago, or mequanego, is one of many small, rural southeastern Wisconsin towns. With a population that consists of less than 10,000 people, Mukwonago has managed to unite urban and small-town living within its eight square miles. There are several unique and historical attractions that make this charming town what it is today. The Red Brick Museum, known to many as the oldest brick house in Waukesha County, is located downtown and houses objects associated with the culture and development of the town. Thanks to popular establishments like Antiqua Real, Caffeinated Cafe and Chen's Kitchen, Mukwonago offers people more convenient choices that are affordable and close to their homes.…
Invasive species are everywhere in the world. Almost, if not all, reasons that invasive species get to new locations is because of man. Man is also the only one who can eradicate or prevent this from happening by either using other animals or by just not releasing the animals into the wild. These invasive species can cause many damages. With the variety of animals, we have a variety of methods to remove them.…
Mālama ʻĀina O Kaho’olawe Kaho’olawe is an island that was illegally taken over by the U.S Military. It was later returned to the people of Hawaii in horrible condition. Walter Rite, chairman of the Kaho’olawe Island Reserve Commission states, “It was the island that shared herself with us. It was the island that told me, ‘Hey I’m dying,’ so, after that one trip it was a total commitment not to allow the island to die.” (Pang Y.B.)…
Burmese Pythons Are Invading the Everglades More than 2,000 pythons have be removed from Florida’s Everglades, but this is only representing a fraction of the population of tens of thousands. Burmese pythons are native to the grassy marshes of Southeast Asia, and they are among the largest snakes in the world (Source 1). They are capable to growing to an astounding length of 23 feet and a weight of up to 200 pounds (Source 1). The presence of Burmese pythons is changing Florida’s everglades because of the pythons being an invasive species, the impact on the ecosystem, and how we as a group have responded to this unfortunate mishap.…
I found this Yakudoshi party fun and very informative celebration (not to mention the great meal my wife and I had). I had an idea of the different types or the variety of food the Japanese culture has to offer, however, I think the most valuable lessons here were learning about the culture. I was fortunate enough to hear how the older generation and the younger generation view the practice of Yakudoshi, compare their views on food, hear and learn about some Japanese etiquettes (especially in the use of chopsticks as I described it in the discussion experience below), and hear their views on interracial marriage. Although the young Japanese couple had a hard time convincing their children to consume some of their meal, watching the young…

Native species are species that have evolved to in a particular region over a long period of time, and have adapted to live in that region’s climate and habitat. These species live in this region with all the other species to form an ecosystem. Non native species on the other hand, are species that are introduced to an area they're not used to by humans, either by accident, or intentionally (getthegreen). Invasive species are a type of non native species, that are very likely to cause harm to the ecosystem (NOAA). They destroy the habitat of other species, and eventually kill plants, and/or other species.…
The American civil rights movement and the apartheid movement in South Africa show similarities in their tensions with inequality regarding race but portray a difference in how the protestors went about changing these issues. The issues that related these two events are education and opportunity, which were big issues among the people but a main difference can be seen in how the protestors reacted in the two different countries. Kaffir Boy, a book that tells the story of Johannes later called Mark, an African American boy growing up during apartheid portrays these issues the links these two countries together during a time of discrimination. Education is a major issue that relates the civil rights movement and apartheid and this can be seen…
