There are several specific differences of using child focused approach or context focused approach when treating a patient with Cerebral Palsy. Both approaches have different assessment process such as context focused is observing and videotaping the child performing certain task as well as using the context-focused framework to classify any barriers. Whereas the child-focused begins with assessing the child’s motor and behavioral function as well as their functional areas of performance. Goal setting for each approach is diverse as well. For the context-focused approach the parents are defining the goals for their child whereas the therapist is setting the goals after conversation with the child’s parents and teachers in the child-focused approach.…

When I started, they were 2 in a half and one years old. I did not feel any pressure or frustration when I cared for these girls as many respite caregivers do, especially with young children. I was very patient with the girls given that they were not able to verbally communicate, nor were toilet trained. Each time I watched them, they brightened my day and bring me great joy when I get to talk about them.…

Children with cerebral palsy are said to require diverse supports and interventions in order to be active participant in their own education (national library of medicine, 2016). Differentiated instruction is a set of strategies that teachers can use to meet each child where they are when they enter their class and help to move them forward as far as possible academically (Levy, 2008). Differentiated instruction, from my own experience has been a successful approach used to help meet the needs of the diverse learners with cerebral palsy.…

Amelia’s assessment (a) will include a standardized test (direct interaction with the child), a language sample, parent questionnaires (direct interaction with parents), and observations at home or during daily routines (observation of child with caregivers and within natural activities) (Crais, 2011). Informal aspects of the assessment will occur during observations of Amelia in the home during…
