I found out about her in 2012, and ever since then I have been motivated to make my drawing better and more realistic. She inspired me because she never gave up. She was persistent until she got what she wanted. Even though she was stunned at first, she did not let that stop her until she gained the name of Silver Queen and had the respect of the people. That is very inspiring to me because I have not let other people’s opinion of me stop me from achieving my goals. Another reason why she is my favorite is because instead of sitting back and letting her husband do all the work, she helped him.…

The artists that have inspired me the most so far in my work are Anselm Kiefer, the Chapman brothers and Monet. I first came across Anselm Kiefer and Monet when doing the painting module of our project; although Kiefer is more of a mixed media artist; I had been aware of their work previously however. I came across the Chapman brothers in one of our art history lectures and thought it could be quite interesting to see how their landscapes compare to the more classical painted landscapes. Monet was one of the forefront artists during the impressionism movement in the late nineteenth century. Monet rejected the classical styles of painting and took on his own much more expressive style choosing to enhance the colours he saw which make his work…

As a kid, I remember sitting in the backseat of the car when it was raining. For some reason I stopped looking “through the rain” at scenes we were driving by and instead focused on the water dancing and creating patterns on the window. I still do and enjoy this. I’m inspired by shadows that create unexpected shapes, or the way light falls on things in a way I’m not used to. I’m inspired by ethereal music and the moods I experience, the list goes on.…

For anybody who has considered themselves a musician, songwriter or artist of any kind usually has a source of inspiration. Be it a favorite band or solo artist, to which it gives them their own ideas, motivation and personal sense of style. One musician who has particularly influenced me is the artist David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust. His career spanned several decades in which he like his fellow musician “Bob Dylan” was not constrained by the music that he made and has reinvented himself, his musical style and appearance several times. The diversity of his career is a combination of various genres of music (i.e. Folk, Rock, American Soul, Electronic, Blues and Glam).…

It seems like we’re always saying we want to get out of our comfort zones, take a bite out of life, challenge and change ourselves. But we rarely ever do. Frida Kahlo is my inspiration. I remember the first time I actually studied one of her paintings with more than a passing, curious glance, when I read pages from her journal and grew voracious wanting to know more about her. It would have been hard to say at first what about her I clicked with. I would have only been able to describe abstract emotions, complicated thoughts and ideas all tangled together as I happily unknotted ideas that gave me such joy, such inspiration. Now, I feel a closer bond with the person I look up to so much, I have an understanding of her that will only grow with time and experience.…
