Kramer Vs. Kramer: Three Star Rating

Decent Essays
Kramer vs. Kramer deserves a three star rating. The acting is one of the main reasons I give this film a three star rating. Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffmann did a great job at conveying the emotions their characters were feeling. When Meryl Streep’s character, Joanna, was putting her son, Billy, to bed, I felt as if she was the boy’s actual mother. Dustin Hoffmann also did a phenomenal job at portraying his anger all throughout the movie. At some points throughout the movie, Dustin Hoffmann’s performance made me believe I was part of the film. The Writing for this film was decent. I thought it was a unique twist on some of the other movies I had seen. I enjoyed the fact the mother was the one who left, not the father. I believe the

My Favorite film or movie is Steel Magnolias. This movie is about the bond between a group of different women from different backgrounds with very different family structure and dynamics. It revolves around the death of one of the women’s children and how they come together to support each other and deal with this tragedy. The movie opens at Truvy’s Beauty shop, where Annelle, a kooky beauty school graduate is hired to work in the shop. Across town, at M’lynn’s home, they are preparing for her daughter Shelby’s wedding.…

From the beginning to the end, Blackberry Winter is a play that focuses on a female character named Vivienne, as she confronts the reality of having a mother who has an Alzheimer’s disease. The major idea of this play is to accept both the good and bad moments, and cherish those times. As Vivienne goes through various objects and memories that connect to her mom, the audience learns how she manages this hard process in accepting the illness of a loved one. Even though I never had an experience like the main character, I was fully immersed with her situation.…

There are many differences between the book The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson and the 1999 film, The Haunting, directed by Jan de Bont. The main characters in the film are, Lili Taylor as the timid Eleanor Vance, Catherine Zeta-Jones as the beautiful, frisky Theodora, Owen Wilson as the deceiving Luke Sanderson, and last but not least, Liam Neeson as Dr. Marrow (Montague in the book). Many argue that this movie barely follows with the book at all. Lisa Schwarzbaum, writer for Entertainment Weekly believes that the movie is just awful. Roger Ebert, writer for the Chicago Tribune believes “The story is a mess,” but also states: “To my surprise I find myself recommending ‘The Haunting.’”…

In the play “When Push comes to Shove,” which was directed by Samantha Norton, I witnessed a dark comical, attention grabbing play about seven college students from Brace University that took a trip to the haunted Pit Cave. The students are in search for a ghost, but it turns that they find more in themselves than anything. The play and production had many elements that made the play dynamic and comical, although it may have been hard to understand right after the completion of it. I feel that the central theme or idea of this play is that with time and isolation, you truly find out who you are, and what your character is made up of.…

For my review, I chose to watch a movie called “Raising Arizona” directed by Joel Coen with his brother Ethan Coen. It was made in 1987 and some of the other movies made by Joel Coen are “Unbroken” “Barton Fink” and “True Grit”. Some of the ideas he conveys are desperation, love, happiness and how they thought having a baby would change them and their situation. When they try to conceive and baby it turns out Edwina or Ed can’t have a baby. So she and her husband H.I. see on the news that a famous couple in the area have quintuplets.…

Jenna Yun Mr. Leckey AP Psychology Period 6 10/30/15 AP Psychology Extra Credit Movie Quarter 1 Overall, my thoughts on the film, The Silver Linings Playbook, were positive. I found it interesting that the author decided to connect mental disorders and dancing together. The fact that Pat, played by Bradley Cooper, and Tiffany, played by Jennifer Lawrence, were able to overcome their mental illnesses by dancing together was significant. In addition, the movie showcased the changes in a family relationship really well and had unique characters that were different from previous movies I saw. For example, Pat’s father has OCD and believed in superstition, while Pat’s mother looked over the family quietly.…
