Krakow Poland Research Paper

In July of 2016, I had the opportunity to travel halfway across the world. On this amazing ten day pilgrimage, myself and 27 other members of the surrounding youth groups experienced the rustic architecture of Krakow Poland, met many new people, and took two day trips. The architecture in Poland is centuries old compared to the modern buildings of today's world. As our group of pilgrims walked through Krakow, we marveled at the beautiful structures around us. Apartments and storefronts looked like ancient structures lined up along the streets. Throughout our ten days in Poland, we met countless other pilgrims from other countries. The first was to see Our Lady of Czestochowa and the second was to the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Our Lady of Czestochowa is a picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary that was placed in a beautiful church after many religious miracles occurred. The Virgin Mary has three slashes on her cheek in this portrait, it is said that a man tried to destroy the painting, but after inflicting the third slash, he dropped dead before the painting. Our other day trip was to see Auschwitz-Birkenau. Walking through the camp was very sobering for everyone. We all felt the weight of the lives that were lost in this terrible place. That particular experience sticks with each of us who traveled to Poland. My trip to Poland was very meaningful to me and I encourage anyone who can to go
