Leaders bringing change to an organization will face many struggles and push-back. “Your message will probably have strong competition from other day-to-day communication within the company; so you need to communicate it frequently and powerfully and embed it into everything you do (Kotter’s 8 Step Change Model, n.d.).”

A. Define the Behaviors that Achieve the Desired Results. Communicating what successful change looks like to team members will ensure leaders have expressed their vision clearly.
B. Acknowledge Those Behaviors when Evident. Acknowledging successful achievement of desired results will reinforce and enhance successful change accomplishments and create positive momentum within the organization.

B. External Motivation
In addition to any types of internal reward systems, leaders offer external reward systems. More tangibly-based in nature, external rewards are effective as they provide extrinsic motivation. Such rewards are not personally driven by employees, but are created by leadership for all team members. Appearing financially based, extrinsic rewards can be: paid time off for employees, a new office, any type of award or recognition by leadership amongst his or her peers, a raise in the pay rate and a bonus based on high performance.
