In your grievance filed at Cheyenne Unit, you claim for the past 30 days canned fruit has been served instead of fresh fruit. You further assert that serving canned fruit is not in compliance with the Kosher menu.

Your grievance appeal has been reviewed at Central Office and the Deputy Warden’s response is affirmed. The Kosher menu does not specify that only fresh fruit be served. It is noted on the menu that either canned or fresh fruit shall be served. The menu also notes nutritionally equivalent substitutions may be made if an item is not available. However, substitutions must be made with items which are already included in the meal cycle menus unless; the Rabbi and the Dietician are consulted and agree.
