So if we compare our current military to that of the Korean War Era what will it show us? Looking at the distinctions of Task Force Smith today, you will notice a substantial difference in the training of today’s soldiers, added to the present amount of combat experience, thus creating a more situational aware and prepared soldier. Really, it does no justice to look at the paradigms, because we still fight with air, naval, and ground forces, they are just bigger, faster, and more powerful. Therefore, the most significant attribute must be that of preparedness over a force’s manning strength.

During “Operation Desert Storm,” attack aviation knock out early warning radar 22 minutes before the air campaign began, and major combat action lasted about one week before the raising of the emirate’s flag in Kuwait City. During “Operation Iraqi Freedom,” forces were able to capture major cities in Iraq and topple the regime of Saddam Hussein, thus ceasing major ground combat actions after only three weeks. By examining these events, we can see what the outcome is when troops are well prepared.
