The War of the Decade: Korean War The Korean War was a brutal and bloodthirsty war. North Korea starts the war with South Korea when they invaded them. After a couple of years the fighting still continues but even more fierce. There were some good things that happened after the war but there were also some very heart breaking moments as well. By then many South Korean soldiers had been killed by the North Korean tanks and the South Korean government was disappointed in the way the United States were acting and how they were reacting and not reacting fast enough to help them. They feared that they would be taken over before they received help. The United States finally reached there agreement and sent in there troops to help South Korea defend themselves. That very day they sent troops by ships and by air. During the fighting all they were doing at first was trying to defend. They were on defense against north Korea. They were trying to get all the communist out of South Korea. The outcome wasn't what they had hoped. The North koreans just kept coming and coming and hitting them with everything they had. It was also one of hottest and driest summers on record. American soldiers dying with thirst were forced to drink water from rice patties that had been fertilized with human waste. As a result of this dangerous intestinal diseases were a consent threat along with other diseases. America and South Korea knew that the defense was not as effective as they had hoped and the conditions were not that great either.
