The year 1945 was a time relief for America. After ww II, most of the countries in the northern part of world decided to divide themselves into two large blocs the first bloc was communist and was controlled by Russia, and the other bloc was mostly democratic and was led by the United States. The cold war started on April 25, 1945, at the Elbe River in Germany where two powerful armies met American and Russia cut Germany in two parts. What was Containment? There were three good examples of containment which help explain what it was. These were the Berlin Airlift, the Korean War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

One good example of containment was how west Berlin was surrounded by the Soviet Blockade. “Joseph Stalin and Soviet Union decided to blockade any shipments into west Berlin (Doc B)” that could make it easier for them to attack Berlin. "West Berlin was …show more content…
“Communist China enters the war (Doc C)”. This shows that China goes in war to push the Un and Us forces back into South Korea. The war caused more than two two million death. This explains the significance of the war was pretty close to the original 1950 border. The korean war is a good example of containment because the U.S. was fighting the spread of communism to keep it contained to USSR only.

A third example of containment was the Cuban missile Crisis. On January Cuba becomes communist under Fidel Castro (Doc D)”. The fact that this event happened, made the U.S. removed all the missiles from Turkey. “On May 1962 Soviets secretly begin shipping 40,000 troops, 60 missiles, and 158 nuclear warheads to communist Cuba (Doc D). So the has to find a way to stop this, and what they did was to use quarantine against ships carrying offensive weapons to Cuba. The Cuban Missile Crisis is a good example of containment because it applied to the problem of soviet nuclear warfare aimed towards

    According to document D, in 1959 Cuba becomes communists, and in 1962 Soviet send troops missiles and nuclear warheads into Cuba. The US sends in spy planes to reveal that Cuba now has nuclear missiles, this is bad news for everyone.
