The Korat cat is a descendant of wild jungle cats from Thailand. They are named after a Thailand province. The Korat cat was believed to be a sign of good fortune. It was believed that if a bride were given a pair of Korat cats her marriage would be a good one.

In 1959, the Korat cat first came to the United States. They are a very rare breed in the western world.

The Korat is a medium sized cat. An adult Korat has green eyes. They will usually weigh 6 to 10 pounds. The Korat cat has fur that is similar to the Russian Blue. They have a short blue tinged fur that is unique to the Korat. The roots of their fur are dark blue, and the hair will become silver at the tips.
