Aboard the anything but luxurious Turgoyak, Fyodor departed on his adventure from the Chilean port of Concon on December 22,2013, heading for Australia’s Brisbane. 160 days later he had covered a distance of 9,300 nautical miles to his destination where he finally touched land. For those of you who do not know one nautical mile is equal to 1.151 miles, I hope that fun fact helps you out the next time you participate in trivia night. Konyukhov completed his solo mission across the Pacific far quicker than anyone has in the past. Fyodor stated that he had rowed up to 10 hours per day. I cannot imagine what it must have been like to row that heavy boat without any help. Also, I doubt I could go 160 days confined into such a small space. It’s not like Konyukhov is a stranger to adventure, this trip is just the beginning of a long list of incredible journey’s he has taken.
