Many people believe Konawaena High School is remarkable. At my school we have access to the stadium field with an all-weather track, the basketball gym, the baseball and softball field, and even a large pool. Konawaena is located in Kealakekua, Hi on the slopes of Hualalai mountain. We call this area “mauka”. Mauka is Hawaiian for the mountain side of the road in context of direction. Konawaena translates into “Middle Kona”. I feel like Konawaena is the heart of Kona. Since it is the center of Kona, Konawaena High welcomes students from all over the district of Kona.
