Cut Out Reflection

Improved Essays
The fabric game was the primary focus as I could properly hear how the two girls interacted between each other. I noticed that the “block girl” would pick out three or four cut-outs for her board and whatever she did not use the other girl would ask to use. This lead me to believe that the other girl did not really know what she wanted to make but was instead just putting the left overs to her board, which was strange becuase the pile of cut-out was rather large and there was no need to just use what the other girl did not. The caregiver stayed near the activity for a few moments but noticing there was no problem between the two girls she removed herself and went back to the dress up area. The kids who continued to dress up had gotten a little …show more content…
This girl was the same bossy girl from before when the kid were waiting of the sea shell activity, although I had no seen her try to take control of a group before. It was also surprising to see her leave the group she was in before, seeing as how the whole time I observed this daycare room she seemed to be in the largest groups, but yet she stayed in this group when there were only two other kids. Eventually, she started taking the majority of the fabric cutouts even though the maximum that could be placed on the board without covering something else is about six. This continued for about a minute until the caregiver that set the game up noticed what was going on. She told the girl that she did not need that many cut-outs and that she needed to share, the girl replied by saying she was helping. The caregiver then asked what her picture was going to be, the girl did not reply and just shrugged. With a simple “okay” the caretaker persuaded the girl to put the extra cut-outs back to the pile so that the other two girls could use …show more content…
My own thoughts about this age group are rather similar to that of the toddlers, these preschoolers were more aware of the other kids around them, and for the most part the kids want to be in groups, but to me, it still seems that this age group is more considered about their own needs and wants. Much like how Piaget said, although to call it egocentric behavior may be a bit more extreme than what I saw in these short two hours. I believe that the preschool age, in regards to education, is the stage where these kids will begin to shape how they will act in schools once they are old enough. Although, it is good to be able to play along and problem solve by one’s self, I believe it is more important to have group so that the beginning stages of social development can be formed. This is what I saw the caregivers attempting to do and this is what I witnessed as I reflect on this observation as a

Arthur Miller, the author of The Crucible, characterizes the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 as a time driven by mass hysteria lead by a group of young girls who accused common townspeople of attacking them with witchcraft. While there was no solid evidence of said ‘attacks’, the extremely religious town of Salem knew no bounds with the persecution and execution of more than a dozen innocent people on the word of these girls. Because lying is easier than telling the truth, the girls continue to lie about being ‘witched’ to save their own skin and finally have power of their own. The play begins with the daughter of Reverend Parris, Betty, who seems to be in a trance.…

The child was climbing and crawling under tables. When the staff attempted to redirect the child, the child’s behaviour escalated where it became a game to him. For instance, a staff member asked him to stop, the child looked at the staff member, waited for her to get closer.…
