The biggest hurdle to accomplishing this feat is time. With so much training, lesson plan development and so on, setting aside time to meet with parents of EBD children seems like a daunting task. Especially if an educator limits themselves to only their “on the job” hours. Although that mindset is just horrible, as a mentor to countless students, one is never “off the job”. There is nothing wrong with quick correspondence, emails or a phone call, to get some quick information or ideas on how to redirect or divert an unwanted behavior or action.…

The representative explained that even after UNV 101, students will be able to access their Pace Path Plan through eportfolio. To ensure that students are on the right track, a student’s academic advisor will help them expand on their…

There are events in life that can be unpleasant to a person, and, when faced with similar situations, emotional consequences could come into place creating distress or anxiety within the individual. These situations are often known as “triggers”. Young adults are typically the most affected by this as they are in the process of changing and discovering new things in life. Colleges have taken this into account, and, in an attempt to protect students from distress, some are advocating for “trigger warnings.” Such warnings would require that students be informed when material that can be offensive or distressing will be presented.…
The group that I had chosen to observe was within my field placement. My field placement is at a school called Creekview Intermediate for 5th and 6th graders and I was able to sit in with a class to help educate students about conflict. We talked about ways to resolve conflict ways to prevent it as well as a way to get help when one sees conflict arising. This was a goal directed activity to help the students understand conflict and to try to avoid it. This was a great experience for me as it was one of my first times in an actual classroom setting as a teacher’s aide/helper.…
