Calah, you are very familiar with DSDS policies and procedures. You have an in-depth knowledge of the rules and regulations governing Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), and that knowledge is evident in how effectively your team follows those guidelines. You are regularly pulled in to provide information on policy updates through BLTSS and continue to serve on the workgroup reviewing the HCBS Technical Guide. Your insight on policy drafts is always received well and is appreciated by those in Central Office. You are familiar with Administrative Policy and are quick to review those policies when needed. You have very effective interview/assessments skills and utilize those frequently when speaking with participants by telephone. This year you demonstrated those skills on multiple occasions when dealing with a particularly difficult participant that called the office repeatedly. You were effective in working with him and prevented the situation from escalating further. You are knowledgeable of the diverse backgrounds were serve and are able to assist staff any time assistance is needed in the area. One of your staff made the following comment regarding your knowledge of work, “Calah is very knowledgeable regarding her job as well as my job. Calah used to do the job I do now, so understands the expected work. I have a great respect for a supervisor who has done the job I am doing and is supportive of the frustrations that often come with some the more difficult participants. With the varying tasks the RET is responsible for, you are responsible for tracking a substantial amount of work. Not only do you track the provider reassessments, you manage the FRED work orders. You ensure that staff are completing work orders based on priority and date and are always willing to re-evaluate the workflow and priorities if necessary. Since last year, you have used the SOSA staff in your office to assist with tracking productivity and training. This continues to be an effective system that your staff have adapted to well. I continue to encourage other supervisors to develop similar systems because of the success that you have had. During this period, you had to interview and make a recommendation for a new Review Specialist. As always, you displayed professionalism when taking on this
