Bradbury shows the need for knowledge through all of the poor decisions that are made by the characters that is caused by their ignorance. One way that Bradbury shows the need for knowledge is by showing what the consequences of no knowledge are. Montag states, “You’re afraid of making mistakes. Don’t be. Mistakes can be profited by. Man, when I was younger I shoved my ignorance in people faces. They beat me with sticks. By the time I was forty my blunt instrument had been honed to a fine cutting point for me. If you hid your ignorance, no one will hit you and you’ll never learn” (Bradbury, 100). This book can go under the microscope. The more pores, the more Montag uses personification in this quote and refers to the text that books contain as pores. He does this to show that books are important and that the more pores that books have, the deeper the meaning of the text in a book will go into. The text that a book contains is very vital and has a lot of quality that gives the reader knowledge and if people read books, they will make a more informed decision in their actions and not do whatever they want.
