“Know Your Lemons” – Breast Cancer Awareness Anyone can put a pink ribbon on anything but the problem occurring with these breast cancer awareness products is they fail to provide any real education or effect change in health behaviors. Many people don’t understand that breast cancer can be present in other ways besides lumps. It was found that the public didn’t know what a cancerous lump might feel like or what puts them at risk for breast cancer.

The public needs to be aware of the simple things like lifestyle that can affect your health and normally many people would not think that some habits may put someone’s health at risk. The more people are aware of it the better the prevention. As said before the best way to fight breast cancer is through prevention and paying attention to small details in life can turn into something greater.
We need to address these more complex questions such as what does breast cancer look like, how does breast cancer feel, and what puts you at risk, if we are truly going to deepen awareness. My goal is to spark conversation about what it really means to be at risk for breast cancer. I don’t want to fuel fear but empower both sexes to be proactive at a young age, inviting them to feel comfortable and supported throughout this journey.
I am grateful that this disease my family has dealt with has gotten so much attention but I believe the conversation around breast cancer awareness needs to shift directions. Every person in America is dealing with this disease on some level every single
