Football is big business in America. In fact, Americans spend billions each year watching and attending the games; as well as purchasing official football merchandise. Fans of specific teams or players will often purchase football jerseys and wear them during games. Unfortunately, many stores are aware this, so they produce and sell counterfeit jerseys. Although it can be difficult to determine the difference between an authentic and counterfeit jersey, it is possible; and all it takes a little bit of investigation prowess.
Determining Knock-Off Apparel
Knock-off jerseys may look identical to an official jersey; however, there are a few small, but key differences. Shoppers can determine the authenticity of a jersey by closely examining the jersey. If shopping online, shoppers can ask sellers for up close photos of the jersey. Common things that

Logo Placement
While both official and knock-off football jerseys both feature logos, they usually differ slightly. A knock-off jersey may feature the logo on the sleeve or somewhere on the neck of jersey. The logo may also feature differing colors or letters. Official jerseys always display the logo in the exact center of the V-neck, and always use exact coloring and lettering.
Jersey Fit
A fake jersey typically has a different fit. Official football jerseys often have a larger fit, so that players can wear padding underneath. Although players do not wear the replicated jerseys, they are exact replicas of what players wear on the field. A knock-off jersey typically has a smaller fit, especially in the shoulder area. It may also hang lower when worn. This can be difficult to determine online, but photos are helpful.
